The cheapest way to get from the Lisbon airport to central Lisbon is by taking the metro. You will need to buy a metro ticket for .50, and the ride costs 1.80€. This method is best if you only have one backpack or one suitcase per person.
The trip from the airport to the Lisbon’s historic center takes roughly a half hour on the subway.
As you exit the Lisbon airport, continue to the right. The Airport Metro Station is to the right of the airport exit. If you exit in front of the taxi stand, continue walking to the right.
There are vending machines once you go down the stairs. You can purchase a ticket for one ride, or you can purchase a Viva Viagem transportation card and put a cash balance on the card.
Once you have the card, you can use it to ride all of Lisbon’s public transportation, including subway, buses, ferries, elevators and funiculars. All of these services are operated by https://www.carris.pt/
The Airport Metro Station is the last stop on the subway’s Red Line. Most visitors will probably switch to the Green Line at Alameda Station going in the direction of Cais do Sodré and then find their accommodations within walking distance of one of the stations on the Green Line.
Those staying in the Alfama neighborhood might take the metro to any station on the Green Line below Alameda Station and then use the Uber or Bolt app to go uphill.

If you arrive in Lisbon with lots of luggage, Uber or Bolt from the airport to the central areas should run around 12€. The taxis drivers at the taxi stand will charge at least 20€.
