Conclusion

On your first trip to Lisbon, you are probably looking to stay in the city and get to know its history and culture. But not long after that, you might come to realize that the Lisbon area has some fantastic undeveloped beaches nearby, and that a lot of Portuguese people enjoy their holidays at the campgrounds near those beaches.

You can do that too! And it is extremely economical.

If you enjoy being outside, and you are looking for some ideas for daytrips or overnight trips from your base in Lisbon, check out these two beach towns that I love: Ericeira and Nazaré.
