Kayak named Home Lisbon the Best Hostel in Portugal in 2020. In 2019,

Hostelworld said that Home Lisbon was the sixth-best medium hostel in the world.

Located in a 200-year-old building in Lisbon’s central Baixa district, Home Lisbon has a bar and offers a nightly dinner cooked by the owner’s mother for €10.

They provide a few Macs computers for guests to use.

Each room either has large windows or a balcony. Each guest gets a large locker.

They organize walking tours for tips only. They do van tours to Sintra and Cabo da Roca, and an occasional trip to Nazaré (home of the world’s largest waves during November and December).

A bed in the eight-bed all-womens’ dorm is €18. There is also a six-bed female dorm for €21.

Another award-winning hostel, they were voted the best hostel in the world in 2010 and 2019. 

Excellent, central location in the flat Baixa neighborhood, just two blocks from the Arco da Rua Augusta. 

A bed in the six-bed female dorm goes for €38. 

They have a nice bar and when you arrive they will hook you up with a shot or sangria.  A nightly dinner is offered and includes vegetarian options.

The hostel organizes dinners, pub crawls, trivia nights, trips to Sintra, and walks around town led by the folks who work in the hostel. 

The hostel is air-conditioned, has an elevator, and a laundry facility.  Beds have curtains, lockers, and night lights.

The lounge has cable tv and a play station. 

Yes Lisbon has a 24-hour reception and luggage storage.  There is a kitchen on site. Breakfast is not included.

Lisbon Destination Hostel

Lisbon Destination Hostel is located in the center of old Lisbon, inside the 19th Century Rossio train station.

I have stayed in this hostel, and I never heard the trains.

The hostel’s common area has a glass ceiling and an indoor garden with hammocks. They offer free shots at the bar during happy hour.

The hostel has air conditioning and ceiling fans. They offer laundry facilities, hot showers, lockers, and reading lights.

Lisbon Destination Hostel is wheelchair accessible.

Between 2014 and 2018, Lisbon Destination Hostel was ranked as one of Hostelworld’s Top Medium Hostels in the World.

The hostel is extremely well located, inside the Cais do Sodré train station. It is also a few steps away from the bars on Pink Street and the TimeOut Market.

They offer female dorms with ensuite bathrooms, private rooms, and four, six, and ten-bed dorms.

Air-conditioning, hot showers, laundry facilities, lockers, adaptors, reading lights, towels for rent.

Lost Inn is located in one of Lisbon’s top neighborhoods for nightlife, and is very close to the TimeOut Market and the Cais de Sodré train station.

The six-person female dorm has three sets of bunk beds. 

Your bed will have a light, an electrical outlet, and a locker with a magnetic card.  The room is soundproof and has air conditioning. 

This bed is €31 per night.

The Central House Lisbon Baixa

Next to the Praça da Figueira, the Central House Lisbon Baixa (formerly Rodamon Lisboa Hostel) has a great, central location. It is also Located roughly 100 yards from the Santa Justa lift, and about 200 yards downhill from the Castle.

The all-girls dorm comes with air conditioning,  hair dryer, towels, and an electronic key card to enter the room.

One bed in the four-bed female dorm is €47 per night.

Breakfast is an additional charge of €8.

The hostel organizes a free Lisbon walking tour, a tour of Alfama, a half-day trip to Sintra, and a local pub crawl. 

The hostel also has a bar and coffee available on site.

Lisb’on Hostel has all-female dorms

This colorful mansion has river views from some of the rooms. There is a computer lab to help you stay connected, as well as large screen TV and a pool table.  Beanbags and hammocks are available in the hotel’s backyard, and Lisb’on Hostel has a bar and rooftop terrace.

The air-conditioned, 6-bed female dorm room goes for €30 per night.

Impact House is dedicated to making a positive impact on the community and the environment.  

They offer a large communal space, a garden, as well as a vegetable garden, a pool, and an activity room where yoga classes are held three times per week.

Impact House has a free continental breakfast that is included in the price of your stay, and farm-to-table lunch and dinner are also available for €10 per meal.

Vegetarian and vegan options are always available, and on Fridays, the entire menu is plant-based. If you are a vegan, read my recommendations in The best vegan restaurants in Lisbon. I was happy with all of those restaurants.

Impact house uses environmentally friendly cleaning products. 

The hostel separates all trash and attempts to recycle most of it. 

Other items are reused or repurposed. 

They donate leftover food, and scraps are composted in the garden. 

The hostel supports local and non-profit suppliers, and partners with local disabled artists. 

They also work at minimizing their CO-2 output, and aim to be carbon-neutral by 2030. 

Maybe you’re just passing through and need a bed for the night, and that’s OK.

One of Lisbon’s newest hostels, but in one of the city’s oldest areas – between Alfama and Mouraria, Inn Possible has already managed to rate highly among Lisbon’s many great hostels.

They provide free continental breakfast, lockers for each guest, luggage storage, 24-hour staffing.  The hostel has a large common area and kitchen.

Along with your bed in the six-person female dorm, you get a private bathroom, a bed with a soft pillow and duvet, individual reading light, power socket (EU adaptor only). 

The room has a full-length mirror, and you can request towels, facecloths, or a hairdryer.

A bed in the six-person female dorm costs €22 per night.
